Mount Pot

How can I mount a pot holder to drywall?
I live in an apartment building and tried to put a wall pot rack in the drywall. I used a stud finder to locate the studs (16 inches). Then drilled pilot holes and used # 12 2 1 / 2 "wood screws to mount the holder the pot. Two screws broke when they screw – one with a drill in one hand. Am I missing something or doing wrong? I have very little experience with improvement projects home. Thank you!
Two things can help (by Assuming you have wooden poles). First drill pilot holes for screws. Select a screw that is the diameter slightly smaller than the screw body (to keep pace behind the screw hole, the body of the screw within low, just hide the drill). Then the screws to give a good surface wax or soap. They should go in pretty easy. Do not overtighten the electric driver / drill. They want to be good and snug but not while taking into Scots turn on a dime.
